Nintedo DS Lite - putting games on The Edge

Hi everyone. My daughter got an edge card for Christmas and we've downloaded the right software onto it. Now we need to put some games on it. A am somewhat wary of downloading from the internet as I'm not certain of the legality of this. She already has a load of games we've bought over the last year but I can't figure out how to get them onto The Edge. Can anyone help?
