shykins wrote:as far as i understand it they have always had the power to put in prison, take away passports etc, but having the power and using it is not the same thing.. i was told my ex would be chased to the end for money he owes but here we are 5yrs later and i have had nothing
if a parent does not want to pay they wont, unless the threats are made and used its no point in making them.. my ex is self employed and its just a game to him, he hides what he eans from the taxman, from the CSA etc...
i cant see how any other dept will sort this out as no doubt they will be tied up in the same red tape, the CSA went after the easy targets and ignored the hard ones which are exactly the people who they should of concentrated on
sorry am rambling but i see no light at the end of the tunnel, i await to be proved wrong

It is true that the legislation to imprison someone for failing to comply with maintenance payments has been available for about 3/4 years however this was so complex that it was next to impossible to get a case as far as court. The Henshaw redesign suggests that this process is made much more simple with less "Red tape" to enable the new agency to more money to those who need it the most more quickly (in theory anyway) HTHComp Wins 2011 : Cant wait to start listing everything:j:j:j0 -
lol yes in theory.... will be nice if that becomes practice
pam i like yr suggestions, maybe the CSA should be listeningn to the people who work there for better ideas of how to run it instead of the govt ministers
my ex not only doesnt pay but pleads poverty so has only been assessed to pay me £5 a week (not that i get it) yet he has a car, van and a mortgage and always has money to go out... something sould be done about this blatant dishonesty so would be nice to see that addressed
i shall watch with interest

Isn't it strange how this can happen in an age when you can find out anything about anybody! My credit report shows exactly how much money I am borrowing and even the amount of overdraft and mortgage I have. The Inland Revenue know just how much money I have earned. It's hard to believe all this information can't be trawled together to give an accurate picture of a parent's income and outgoings.
I feel that the need for a child to have financial support should be assessed on a different level to a parent's willingness to pay.
Urban Spirit I do know that if my ex pays tax to the UK I can still "get him" but it's hard to find out such information with no contact. I only hear via the town grapevine that he's doing very well thank-you! Of course the CSA have looked for him once, couldn't find him and don't want to know anymore.Do not allow the risk of failure to stop you trying!0 -
my ex is a self employed plumber he pays £20 per week, have you ever heard of a poor plumber lol, can we take these so called sperm doners to small claims court im owed over £2000 the csa dont care so do we have to do it all ourselves0

Maybe this is why he can't afford half his salary? (Although I do agree he should pay his share).(AKA HRH_MUngo)

half his salary?? he doesnt pay ANY!!.... he doesnt need a van and a car he is all on his own.. the van is brand new btw... also the only reason he has a mortgage is because he decided to extend his house (it already had 2 bedrooms and still has 2 bedrooms) but now has a brand new kitchen, bathroom and ensuite .. oh and i did i mention he bought a brand new range at £5kplus.... hardly justifiable is it??
and what do the CSA do ?? nothing!!!!,... it makes me so angry he can get away with all this

Have you appealed? I know how you feel. My ex ( barrister ) was assessed to pay the "fiver" at one point.
The CSA can approach the IR and get his self assessment form. One of my main gripes is "child support" is calculated after expenses et al.0 -

Oh well, that doesn't seem fair at all. What's the matter with the CSA? I've luckily had no dealings with them, but it seems as though the very thing they are set up for (making parents who won't pay do so) is the very thing they seem unable to do, whilst making other decent people who are willing to pay live in poverty because of a huge assessment.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

i have tried to appeal but their interest is zero cos hes self employed.. i even told them ab out his winter job at a supermarkeet.. still nothing
they said they would investigate .. i think its called lifestyle discrepancy... i gave them all the info about 18months ago... so far nothing and uc ant ask if they have finished the investigation or if its still ongoing cos they wont tell u
basically i have resigned myself to gettin nothing from him but boy is it galling to see his nice new van parked on the driveway.. did i mention his lovely new american fridge/freezer .. grrrrrr... oh well i tell myself that i am happier cos i have a lovely new man and am happy while he still bears a grudge for our split 5yrs ago
maybe the new agency wil help but i doubt it

Personally im glad the csa has gone i have repeatidly asked questions and never got a proper reply
my main question that may be someone here might be able to answer is
If the children live with their mother but the father wants to move in with his new partner would the income of his new partner be taken into concideration as to the amount of maintainance paid?
if so at what %0
