Thanks for all those sites, i started to do a family tree last year and some will be very useful as i continue. I have relatives in australia who are also doing a tree so think the tribalpages particularly looks very useful. Not sure though what GEDCOM file is. Any help please, what do i need to do.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

www.ancestryaid.co.uk and www.familytreeforum.com
I'm doing my family tree and have had enormous help from these sites and they're both free.
There's also www.rootschat.com - forum with some great help there

If you're Scottish and have an ancestor commemorated on a war memorial you should have a look at https://www.scottishwarmemorials.com0

One of my favourites is http://www.britishpathe.com/ because if you are lucky you can see old places/occupations and if your ancestor was likely to have been on the news you may even get them! You can download them too.
Just a great site anyway for nostalgia and seeing things as they used to be.0 -
Hiya, Once I locate the address and click on it, it asks for my credit card details. I am a fully paid up member of Ancestry.com and it has always driven me mad that you cannot search on there by address. If anyone knows how to do this (on ancestry.com) or is managing to get the above free, can you drop me a hint on here. Thanks for all of the posts on this thread - a few sites I haven't tried yet.

Basically it allows you to transfer data from one type of family history prog to anotherEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Another great site is www.british-genealogy.com The forums are excellent - some lovely people on there all eager to help as much as they can when you get stuck."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0
