Painting outdoors - technical query

My parents have had some decoraters paint inside their house and they have suggested getting started on the outside of the house this week. My mother had some recollection that one shouldn't paint outside if there is any danger of frost. Is this true? Is this a good time to be painting outside? Does it matter?
They are in London.

The problem you could have is if wood as become damp itself, then come the summer when the heat hits it the damp will turn to condensation and make the paint peal/flake, even if you use a pourus paint.
Advise your mum to wait untill spring.
I am a decorator and never paint outside between mid nov to mid march.
You will see painters outside but they are just doing it for the money, without the pride. What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
Wait until April/May for a better result. I painted the outside in December but only because my house was going on the market and I wanted to freshen it up. No problems with it but if you can wait, then wait.0

You need to be sure that the surfaces are dry for the preparation and undercoat etc.
You also wanna be sure that the gloss is not going on late in the afternoon or if the air is a bit damp/foggy etc - if this is the case then you risk losing some of the shiny gloss effect of the paint.
If the work has the sun on it and the paint isnt going on too early or late in the day then I reckon you'll be ok. ANy doubt, then wait til the clocks go forward.
