MP3 player for swimming???

Hello,
Im thinking of taking up swimming. The problem is that i get bored quickly & want to get a mp3 player so i can listen to some tunes while i swim. Does anyone have any recommendations??? I dont tend to go deep under the water (more of a floater:-) ) and dont want to spend too much.
Thanks for any advice!!!

    Hi,

I just did a quick search on Amazon and there are a selection there. It's good to read up the specs and reviews before choosing.

Do public pools allow you to swim wearing MP3's? Just a though that if the lifeguards wanted you out you wouldn't hear them whilst wearing one so some pools may not allow it.
  • What a great idea. I swim in my lunch hour and it gets really boring, I think I'll invest in one of these. Thanks OP.

It's not much different to swimming with ear plugs in, and loads of people do that.

OP, you can also get aquapac bags for MP3 players, and you can put any mp3 player in those, as long as you get waterproof headphones as well.

When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.

I second what Pboae says re the waterproof cases. The real Aquapacs can be quite dear but you can get non-branded ones from eBay quite cheap. I bought one last year which included waterproof headphones and it was quite cheap - if I remember correctly it was about £15 inc delivery from Hong Kong. They work fine although the sound quality is not great but more than adequate for a swim.

You can buy specific waterproof MP3 player sbut the reviews for those are terrible.

My MP3 player is just a cheapy Scandisk from Amazon (although the quality is excellent) so I wasn't at all nervous about taking it for a dip. If I had an IPod Touch or something then I think I might be slightly more anxious.

  • I've been researching the options for swimming with music and am opting for this: www.u-banana.com
  • In this month's Marie Claire magazine they recommend H20 Waterproof IPod cases from £29.99 and point you to www.swimmer.co.uk

  • My friend and I spent £25 each on 'waterproof' radios from america and I have to say that they were absolutely sh*t. Only wore them once as they didnt work at all and because they were bought in usa didn't bother sending them back or try and get a refund!! So please be careful before you buy and see what the return policy is.

  • Where do you put the mp3 player? Attach it to your swimsuit?
