TV Optical Out?

Options
Hi

Ive had sky+ for a few months and invested in a surround sound system around 2 years ago. I see you can connect an optical out but my surround sound hasnt got this but its Dolby Digital compatable, is there any other way to connect sky+ to the surround system and get Dolby Digital sound on there?

Many Thanks

There are a fewother products available similar to this elsewhere. You will need an optical cable.

To say this system was supposed to one of the best it hasnt even got Coaxial, could you get Coaxial to red/white audio or is that just going to loose the whole point of the dolby digital sound?

The device I mentioned converts optical 1s and zeros of a multiplexed digital audio stream into an electrical copy of the same ones and zeros. There is no loss in quality. The signal needs to be decoded to be heard. I trust you have an audio/visual amp and the ability to receive digital S/PDIF signals. Many also have S/PDIF coax and optical inputs and also conventional phono inputs (an analogue signal). You can never get enough inputs.
The same shape connector is often used for the S/PDIF connection as a standard phono connection. The signals directed through them are very different.
