I have a credit card for emergencies and have never used it before until a few days ago when I had to buy some train tickets, how do I go about paying it off? I know it sounds stupid but I'm not completely sure. I have Internet banking, is there a way of transfering money to the CC? or paying it over the phone?

once this months statement is due nationwide will send you a bill, and the methods you can use to pay is advised on there, and include payment at bank with the giro payment slip on the statement, via post, via direct debit (though this can take a while to set up so may not be in time for the payment) etcMFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0

From my Nationwide Gold statement:-
BACS- SC 07-30-12 A/c 00001604 with your c/c number as reference number (Double check this as it could be my account (even though its not))
Direct Debit. This is how I have mine setup it takes the whole balance when it is due, and is the best way to pay if you can pay off your balance in full every month. (You should always have a direct debit setup for at least the minimum anyway)
The other 2 payment methods require you to have received your statement: by post, send cheque or postal order and payment slip from bottom of your statement in the supplied envelope (allow 7 working days for payemnt to clear)
Or bring the statement with your cash or cheque payment into a Nationwide branch. (Allow 5 working days for payment to clear)

As Anna says, CC will send you a bill with full details of how to pay - I pay all mine with internet banking or direct debit - easy peasy. Just make sure you don't miss the payment deadline!
If you need to phone them for anything else why not set up a direct debit anyway for future use - you can choose to pay off the full balance each month -stress free!0 -
If you have Internet Banking just add Nationwide CC as a payee on your list of payees and pay it when you get the statement.. this is what I do every month and pay the whole amount monthly.. or set up a DD as others suggest...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j
