(only first 2.5million people will get it)

I didnt think Microsoft would stick with this. The more testers the more bugs and the more reliable the final program. That and when it expires in august everyone who loves it will want it making for a nice little sales rush for microsoft. They have already removed the free copy of the OS for bug finding that was in place with VISTa (US only though for VISTA).

More testers != better feedback quality though

Use Virtual Machine 2007 and you can install the O/S via the ISO.

You can also install via a USB stick .. you'll need a 4gig at least ..

Run CMD.EXE and type the following. (you may need to run this with admin privelidges!)

IMPORTANT: This set of commands assumes that the USB stick is addressed as "disk 1". you should double check that by doing a list of the disks (type "list disk") before cleaning it. If you have multiple hard drives, like an SDFlash drive or a Multibay drive, you could end up wiping your second drive using this command.

    1. diskpart
    2. select disk 1
    3. clean
    4. create partition primary
    5. select partition 1
    6. active
    7. format fs=fat32 (or NTFS if you prefer .. didn't make a difference for me)
    8. assign
    9. exit

Now extract the Win 7 ISO using Winrar to a folder on your hard drive (c:\win7 for example) and copy the whole folder to the USB stick like this ..

    xcopy c:\win7\*.* /s/e/f d:\*.*

Obviously change disks c: and d: in the above command to suit your own system.
More about the xcopy command here .. http://commandwindows.com/xcopy.htm

Re-boot your PC and change the boot order in your BIOS in order to boot from the USB device.
I found I had to remove the USB stick at first re-boot in the Win 7 installation routine , otherwise it would start again from scratch!

I found this at another blog that was describing a Vista method and just copied it for my own purposes .. your mileage may differ of course .. but it works for me!!

    Hope this helps!
