warm sure engineer and worcester bosch boiler

sorry for this but i just have to get this rant out
i had a new boiler fitted last march from eaga through a grant which at the time we were very grateful for .but as it was done with a grant i had no choice as to where the boiler could go the heating company who fitted it said they had no other option but to put it in the attic.
but since sept we have had nothing but problems with the system it either doesnt come on at all or it comes on for 30 minutes and cuts of which is driving me mad .
As the worcester bosch boiler is prone to the condensate pipe freezing up and the boiler cutting out i am frequently now having to crawl into the eaves of the attic with hairdryers and hot water bottles to defrost this to get the heating back on .even with this pipe lagged it still isnt stopping this pipe from freezing .
Now this is best bit the last engineer who came out to check the boiler said the only way to stop it freezing over was to leave the heating on all day and all night at 25 deg ,this may sound quite sensible in this weather but as we have a small hall the thermostat is cutting of really quick because the temp in the hall is reaching 25 but the rest of the house isnt ,
his answer to that was try to leave the front door open as much as you can ,
so the long shot of this is if you are having problems with your worcester bosch boiler ,according to the warm sure engineer .
you have to blast the heating up to 25 so the boiler wont freeze and leave your front door open so the thermostat wont cut out
and there i thought the whole point of the grant was to make your home more energy efficient .
sorry rant over

Quite clearly the boiler is faulty. its still under guarantee so kick up a fuss, write letters and get it replaced.0

I agree get them back to sort this out properly.
Don't be rude just very firm.....
Silly comments from so called 'engineers' about leaving the front door open are just plain stupid.
Take up your complaint with whoever gave you the grant as well......they will not like this sort of thing at all.0 -
if you dont get any joy. write to your local paper and embarress them and your local mp.0

hi thanks for that but the company we had the grant from contacted worcester bosch and their engineer also has been out to it and he recons the boiler is fine and the fault lies with the condensate pipe getting frozen up ,
he said it is not their fault and to contact the guys who fitted it .
when i contacted them they passed me to eaga where we got the grant from and they then passed us to warm sure who do the repairs .
and it was their engineer who gave me this priceless advice .
so far im getting no where apart from being passed back and forth .0 -
This is not a product problem is a problem with the install! The condensate pipe needs to be protected from frost / freezing (insulated). you don't need your room stat on 25 either won't make a blind bit of difference! contact warmsure / eaga and explain the problem to the call centre. when the engineer comes insist that he either insulates the condense pipe or refers it to the installer.0
