Using 1pt of milk a day (or more!!)

Hi Karnam, I would use my vouchers for the milk then have an arrangement with a friend to take the milk from me. Benefits are not always given to those on low income and maybe you know someone who can use the milk. Failing that try telling the benefit people that you can't/don't want to have the milk and can you use them for something else. You can't be the first person to have this situation.

ROFLMAO!
I thought they swapped em for Lamberts or Golden Virgin and Rizla+
Seriously though, I would echo one of the earlier comments - if you don't need them, exchange them for baby milk formula and donate them to your local Maternity Unit.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Have to say that I very much doubt that you would be able to donate formula to the Maternity Unit - they have strict rules on hygine and even unopened tins from an outside source wouldn't be any good. Plus mostly now for formula they buy in ready mixed milk in little plastic bottles that are pre-sterilised, so don't actually have the equipment to use formula mix. Plus there are a whole host of rules about not promoting formula over breastmilk - so that won't be an option....
I am still breastfeeding my youngest and don't like the taste of milk either but you can get enough calcium through cheese, yoghurt and a healthy diet. I would buy follow on milk with it - the tins have a long sell by date - and if you end up with too many by the time your baby is using it, you will always be able to give it to mums at a toddler group you go to etc. as it hasn't cost you anything.
That's if you think your little one will go on to follow on milk - I'm still bf my youngest at 18mths, World Health Organisation advice is to bf till 2yrs, so follow on milk (if they're already eating a healthy diet and don't need it for the vits or iron, isn't necessary)

I have been able to get soya milk from the local Co-op using milk tokens in the past. Going by the value of the token up to a certain amount, can't remember how much not by the volume of milk as obviously soya is dearer than standard milk.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0

A friend of mine used to get me baby milk with her tokens from the clinic and I would pay for her bottled milk as this made it cheaper for me as we were on a low income.
Try to find a similar arrangement with a friend.The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0 -

i dont think i can do this, the back of the token says full fat and semiskimmed only.... i shall have a search for yoghurts but for now i think the milk is going to be drunk by someone else!!:A Boots Tart :A0 -

I used to buy my formula from the baby clinic with the youngest, as it was 31 a tin cheaper in those days. The clinic didn't stock the follow on milk, and so you weren't able to use tokens there. I don't know if a supermarket would have the same rules eg you could only use for the first infant feeds and the hungrier baby feeds but not for follow-on milk.
I had the milk tokens once in pregnancy but could only use them in Asda if I actually bought milk.0 -
the back of my milk token says no follow on milk either!
i have one or two pregnant friends and might contribute to them, as i know they are students and therefore 'chose not to work' and so get next to no benefits!:A Boots Tart :A0 -
