Beware Of Zopa Sign Up

I signed up for Zopa like all good money savers to get my Credit Score and for that reason only.
The site is a farce.
When I went through to get my Score I was asked by Equifax to confirm details they had on me.
I made a mistake and Zopa Shut Me Out.
They then went on to Check I was genuine. TWICE.
That could of been my fault as I tried to log in again to see if I could access my Credit Score.
It seems that whenever you make a mistake in Zopa that your Identity is checked with Equifax.
THIS GOES DOWN AS A SEARCH!
Meaning of course that you could be desperate for Credit.
WATCH OUT AND BEWARE.
At no time did I request they contact me.
Oh, and I could find no way of deleting my Account with Zopa. (Any Ideas?).
Below are my Zopa E-Mails to give you an idea of a potential problem.

I TRIED ACCESSING MY ACCOUNT.
MY ACCOUNT IS NOW LOCKED.
NOT ONLY THAT BUT AFTER ACCESSING MY EQUIFAX CREDIT REPORT I FIND THAT YOU HAVE DONE TWO SEARCHES.
WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO SCREW UP MY CREDIT RATING.
THE LAST THING I WANT TO DO IS HAVE A THIRD CREDIT CHECK DONE BY YOU WITH EQUIFAX.
PLEASE DELETE ME FROM YOUR DATABASE.
I WANT NOTHING MORE TO DO WITH YOUR SITE.
YOURS,
xxxxxxx

    Hi xxxxxxxx

Thank you for bearing with us – we’ve been working really hard to get you into Zopa. We are sure you’ll understand how important it is that Zopa is a safe and secure place for all Members and this is why we have a very rigorous approach to admitting new joiners.

Unfortunately we’ve been unable to verify your identity. As we’re sure you’ll understand, it’s really important that Zopa is a safe and secure place for all Members and this is why we have a very rigorous approach to identification.

I know this is really frustrating given the time that you have spent registering with us.

If you have any further questions on how to lend at Zopa then please email us at contactus@Zopa.com

I had not heard of "Zopa" before.

I am unsure whether the e-mails that you are sending to them are exactly as you have posted above (formatting and capitalisation), but if so I would advise you to write your e-mails to this company in a more formal manner as it appears that they are only briefly reading over the ones that you have been sending to them so far and assuming that they know what you are asking and this is then causing the situation to start heading in circles.

Write with the full "Dear Sir" headers, a full and concise overview of your problems with their site and end with the "Yours sincerely" footers... I suspect that they may then pay more attention to what you have written.

Hope that the issues are rectified for you soon.

    :)
"Part P" is not, and has never been, an accredited electrical qualification. It is a Building Regulation. No one can be "Part P qualified."

  • Thanks for the advice.
It does appear that my rather abrupt and rude approach has worked on this occasion.
I received a reply to my final one in less than 5 mins and the situation is now resolved.
I have always found that politeness in e-mails if you want something done is NOT always the best route as customer service representatives does not want the hassle of spinning out a subscription when their name is on the e-mail.
Be concise and use caps to highlight your DEMANDS, they then cannot fail to MISS what you are after.
That is why I always get the name of any Customer Service Rep when I phone.
I must congratulate Zopa on this occasion as they responded to my e-mails very quickly and dealt with the request I submitted (I hope).
Example of final e-mail I received below:
    Hi

Thank you for your email and your interest in Zopa.

I’m sad to hear that you no longer wish to be a Zopa member. However I have honoured your request and your account has now been suspended. Once a month we clear down our data records. At this point all of the information previously stored with us will be removed.

Thank you for being a Zopa member, despite the short time you’ve been with us. I hope that in the future you will not rule Zopa out due to this encounter.

    Kind Regards

  • If you had signed up to lend or borrow money, the purpose for which the site is designed, you may have received better customer service.

I have had no problems with Zopa.

As someone who deals with people all day if someone is rude to me I will be polite but I will not put the effort into helping as the person who is polite to me. I think when people are abusing you or e-mailing you with big captials they don't realise that its not always possible to do what the person is demanding.

There are two searches done by Zopa:

    1. A money laundering identification check, which is visible to you in your statutory credit report but is not disclosed to any potential lenders. Since it's invisible to potential lenders it can't have any effect at all on your ability to get credit anywhere.
    2. A quotation search to tell you which market you qualify for, if any. This has no significant effect on credit score because it's not an application search.

Any reason for dragging up a post from THREE AND A HALF YEARS AGO???

None that I can see. Even less when the credit score is no longer available directly, just the market.
