this is high on my list. I hate modern kitchen units, they are so small you waste a lot of space because things don't fit in them properly and it's difficult to keep everything together.lilac_lady wrote: »A pantry!,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
edited to say - an old fashioned cool (as in cold) walk in pantry.
A pantry, with its lovely long shelves is ideal for creating the right amount of space for everything.0

Lol, the dream which is most likely going to remain a dream is pretty much what thriftlady described...
More realistic in terms what I can achieve and hopefully will achieve next year (or maybe this year) is:
Dish washer, 6 burner hob, 2 ovens (at eye level) cabinets going all the way up to the ceiling, for storing things you only need once a year, like Xmas cooki e tins etc...) as much workspace as possible!0

Ooooh. *ahem......gets head out of the clouds*
Wooden units. A big enough kitchen to have an island unit, hanging pot racks, hanging airers, Lots of storage space, cast iron pans and scales, an Aga, A built in wine rack, space to store cookery books and one of those nifty little recipe book holders (sad, I know)
I'd spend all day in there though.Proud to be dealing with my debts :T
Don't throw away food challenge started 30/10/11 £4.45 wasted.

There would be room for comfortable, old chairs to sit and sew or read cookbooks or novels whilst waiting for things to cook. It would also be in the country with a door opening onto a kitchen-cottage garden with hills or moorland beyond....
 are you me? lol0

I agree with so many of your ideas!
Def would have a walk in larder - I used to have one years ago and so miss it..
I have a floor to ceiling fridge and next to it a floor to ceiling freezer and would not be without them!
I also have a pullout base unit (45 degree angle iykwim) which I use for potatoes, onions etc.
I do have problems with the cupboards being too shallow for plates and have to use a base cupboard - not good for my poor back and being fairly tall
Also would like wall-to-wall sunshine so could keep the doors open to garden - I know dream on - or emigrate!!:rotfl: SW Convert - started 20/09/09 -3 Stone to lose!! SW Convert - started 20/09/09 -3 Stone to lose!!

This is very boring I know but I don't have one in my kitchen and it drives me mad.
A cupboard tall enough to store the broom and mop!0

Thriftlady - Lakeland do a gadget that goes over a kitchen cupboard door that is great for holding teatowels.
I've had new kitchens fitted in the last two houses that I lived in - in my last house, I did have a pantry, shelved up one side and there was also room for a double unit with drawers and a bit of worktop above it - a great space for holding all my gadgets and bits and pieces.
In the house we're in just now, I made the kitchen space bigger by having more cupboards installed, which means more work surfaces. Also have a 4 drawer unit for holding cutlery and bits and pieces. The bottom drawer is deep, so I hold my towels and oven gloves there.

I just need a bigger kitchen oh and an oven with more than 2 shelves. Everything is balanced on top of something else. Today I chucked the bread bin out so I had somewhere to put the breadmaker. The coffee machine is on top of the freezer along with the toaster.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

My kitchen has a sort-of breakfast bar - the counter does a 90 degree turn and heads away from the wall, but then at the end of the counter there is a table - at regular table-height - and chairs. The table has a bit cut out of it to fit around the end of the counter, and is attached to the side of the lower cupboard. It's a terrific arrangement :-).id love a utility room off of the kitchen,
One end of my garage is my "utility area" - the garage is right beside the kitchen so it works fine (is just cold at this time of year).a walk in larder,a range cooker,
*Sigh* Oh yeah...would love those too. If I could get the garage sorted out, I could make a pantry there...a upright fridge freezer with a spare freezer for batch cooking.
I've had a side-by-side fridge-freezer in the kitchen for about 1.5 years now and love it. I've a big chest freezer in the garage, so I keep the "main" bits of meals in that, and all the bits and pieces for lunches, veg etc in the freezer part of the fridge.more cupboard space, all new electrical appliances and i have to say i wouldnt want a dishwasher i enjoy washing up,gives me the sense of good to know ive cleaned it all.
I think you're mad! ;-) - I wouldn't be without my dishwasher - it gets run every evening before bed, emptied every morning after breakfast, and then it keeps all the dirty bits and pieces off the counters through the day :-)
I do quite like my kitchen - it's just that with feeding eight people every day, you can *always* use a bit more cupboard and a bit more counter LOL0
