what would be on your wish list for new kitchen?

I've recently got a new kitchen and after using it for a while, I think I would rather have an extra couple of tall larder units rather than the wall/base units we got. I wanted extra worktop space but I now really miss the storage that we had with our old larders.
We also got a waste disposal unit which we thought might have been a bit of a luxury and weren't sure if it could be justified but it's been in constant use and is worth it's weight in gold. Our bins no longer smell, the local cats dont try to get into our bins as there is no food there any more and the amount of rubbish in our bins has reduced drastically.
I've found that the 'gadget type' units are lovely to look at but not overly practical. We have those little 150mm pull out cupboards with the wirework storage......useless things. They really are only big enough to hold spices etc...you can't even fit a tub of Bisto in as it's just a shade too wide. We've just bought a 300mm unit with internal drawers and we're about to take the 2 x 150's out and replace with the new unit as there is much more storage space.Herman - MP for all!

I have this issueThis will make the kitchen about a third bigger again, and we will only need to move things around a little bit to do it (not to mention the addition of two RSJs upstairs and the cost of the building work!!!).
I have the old outside wall in the middle of my kitchen like so: http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g15/Kavanne/n286102278_3326229_176.jpg
If I redid the kitchen I would definitely want it removed as that would give me a kitchen which is 8'7"(not including the recess for FF, washing machine and diswsher) by 11'5" which sounds fantastic heheKavanne

A chest freezer. Well, at the very least a larger freezer than we have now. My DH2B has been a dream about it all, really, and he told me that if we got the chance to build our own house (well, it might happen one day!) that the kitchen would be the biggest place in the house. Warming and inviting, with a table at one end (with a TV, naturally
), and a large freezer for me to fill.
Ahh, such a happy dream!

If I were planning my dream kitchen however, it would have an aga, a walk-in pantry and a huge scrubbed table in the middle where I could work and we could eat and the children could do homework or paint. There would be room for comfortable, old chairs to sit and sew or read cookbooks or novels whilst waiting for things to cook. It would also be in the country with a door opening onto a kitchen-cottage garden with hills or moorland beyond....
Yes that's my dream too thriftlady! one day...
you've all mentioned things that we've planned-
pullout tap thingy - definately want that
places to hang towels/teatowels - why do designers never think of that? I'm getting the long bar type handles that you can hang stuff over to dry and hang your oven glove over the end, also putting a wee towel radiator in too. Am I the only person that needs a hand towel at the kitchen sink?
I always thought those corner cupboard rack things looked rubbish so thanks for confirming that!
And I'm planning on filletting my cookbook collection and only having a few choice ones on a shelf
BTW we are going to IKEA! The staff there are the freindliest and most helpful out of any kitchen place and they're on my wavelength - unlike some of the places I've been where they try to give you an identikit kitchen that you have to fit round - Ikea want you be individual and the kitchen to fit you. You'd think I worked for them! (that'd be good actually - do they get a staff discount?)Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0 -
Definitely would love more space to fit a BIG fridge/freezer and storage. More space would also mean somewhere logical to place my kitchen bin - instead of in front of the back door, blocking access! So, first thing on the wish list would have to be an extension -ha! (yeah, dream on!) :rotfl:0

There's a thread here somewhere people posted pictures of their kitchens, you might get some useful ideas. Don't know what it was called."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

In my previous rented flat I had a gorgeous kitchen - but no microwave and I didn't miss it at all. (Although now I do have one in my currrent flat it's handy for popcorn and softening butter!) But they are ugly and take up too much space. I freecycled my George Foreman - never used it.
For my ideal kitchen, must haves would include:
A dishwasher.
A gas hob (I hate electric hobs)
You can never have enough worktop space or cupboard space.
Space for the food processor and breadmaker to be out all the time for ease of use.
A double sink.
A seperate handwashing basin.
An island in the middle with a hob and workspace on it would be nice so you don't have to face the wall when you cook! (And you can chat to guests etc)
Big farmhouse style wooden dining table and chairs or at least some kind of dining table and chairs.
One of those double ovens and six / eight burner hobs - had that in my previous flat (told you it was a great kitchen). It's amazing how useful 2 ovens can be.
Extractor fan that vents to the outside of the property and not just back into the kitchen!
.....I could go on.
Unfortunately my current kitchen has none of these (except the gas hob)
A great view over countryside would be lovely too and your own veg patch just out the back
Aah, daydreaming.......

Am I the only person that needs a hand towel at the kitchen sink?
No I do that too, although there is often nowhere to hang it. Makes much more sense than using kitchen towel all the time - I assume that's what most people use as I have seldom seen anyone else with a handtowel in their kitchen."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

The kitchen is fine the way it is, i don't need a new one. All i want is someone to do all the cooking; cleaning;and washing in there, while i've got my feet up and watching the television.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
