Looking for an iphone in car solution please

My mate has a Nissan X-trail (2004) with a hardwired car kit with steering wheel controls. It currently has a cradle attached which fits his old Nokia 6230i. He's looking to get an iphone and is wondering if there is a simple change of cradle solution or will he have to go down the relatively expensive Parrot MKi 9200 route?
