Hey, my brother(16) & I(19) will be moving into a privately rented house within the next month or so and I was wondering if anyone knew from experience if we'd be entitled to a discount on our council tax or rent?
My mum had been recieving high rate DLA for my brother & also CA for him (up until october, when she didn't reapply when he turned 16) We are in the process of reapplying for it and also carers allowance for myself, im also on income support. However we hopefully both have full time jobs before we move, i dont know if this will affect the DLA or the carers allowance
Thanks in advance

It wont affect the DLA but if you're earning over about £95 you wont be able to get Carer's Allowance. I'm not sure about the council tax, you might be able to get a single person discount depending on whether your brother is counted or not.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

You'd get the 25% single person discount for council tax as there's only one adult living in the property. Whether or not you get any help with the rent (LHA) will depend on how much you both earn.0

If you go to the EntitledTo website you can put in your details and it'll tell you how much you're probably entitled to:
