hi,
My LL brought a tv engineer around earlier this week to quote for a aerial splitter for my room. I have posted about it before. I'm the only one in the house who cant get a decent picture on my tv.
The quote was £55, my LL has many other houses all organised in a similar way (houseshare/mainly workers etc). I hoped he would offer to split the cost since its benefiting the house and not something I can take with me but he didnt.
I've been upto Maplins today and bought a aerial which is supposed to be the equilevent to a high grade.... but it still gets a barely watchable picture and nothing when using my digi box. I'm just so bleeding frustrtated by it....
Its causing a little friction in the house I think as I'm often in the lounge watching TV plus ....... can someone please give me good advice on how to tell our new tenant to keep it down at night. I was kept awake till 3 am this morning by her and her friend; her screeching with laughter, the two fire doors banging every time her or her friend came out of the lounge, walked down the hallway and into the downstairs loo - if theyre left open I can hear even more of her yelping etc. Its the second time this week too!!
Thanks
Jen

MOVE.

Find a room with a good tv reception and nice flatmates.0 -
lol you have no idea how long it took to find somewhere decent in this area!
this person in new, the others aren't too bad - typical houseshare probs really....0 -
and to top it all off ... I spent the evening doing jobs and now wanted to go and watch a bit of tv and one of her friends (never met in my life) has cocked out on our sofa with a duvet....
great!

You need a house meeting. Or to move.0

So what if this housemate's friend is on the sofa with a duvet?? If she wasn't watching TV, just turn the light on and switch the TV on. She can sleep on the floor in her friend's room!
Why can't you watch TV via the internet on iplayer or similar? All the decent stuff is generally online to watch.
Take the aerial back to Maplin and exchange it for an outdoor one to see if that works.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

I know I cant move (again).
I feel like I will be ostracised for complaining as (again) I seem to be the only one who is bothered!! I just feel so p!ssed off sometimes as I seem to be doing the majority of the housey jobs and buying a lot of the domestic stuff like washing up liquid etc. Its just the same old problems again.

Exactly!! why is her friend on our sofa in the first place really, she wasn't introduced to anyone etc and it wasnt arranged. I feel very outnumbered though as this new girl is one of my other housemates latest best friend and they are both more popular than me....
I may well do that with the iplayer or 4od, its more of something to do a lot of the time and background noise. Like I used to love sitting up in bed on a evening watching csi or whatever now I cant.... its a comfort thing. I also have a lot of problems sleeping so used to get up and watch the re-runs of daytime tv or deaf tv.
an outdoor one?? what would this involve to put it up? I balk at putting a light bulb in....

How rude!! Kinda pointless inviting a friend to stay if you're going to drag a bloke back! Hopefully the friend was equally as annoyed and won't stay again!?top_drawer wrote: »Outdoor aerial??? please tell me more

We got one from Argos, as our TV reception was so rubbish, and all indoor aerials had failed us. We screwed it onto the balcony then poked the cable through the vent and into the TV. MUCH better picture!!
I think it was about £40... was quite robust - not one of those flimsy looking things! Have probably still got it in a box somewhere (have since moved), so will look up what make it was!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
