So £65 means you are stuffed. Key to this is handling finances better so such a small amount doesn't kill you.

£65 may be less than a days wages to you, but to some £65 is a hell of a lot of money!!

Would you pay £42 to Sky if it was then?
  • up to this point I have never had any issues with Sky in my 18months as an account holder

Then you're having much better luck with them than I am! Speaking from my own experience of complaints to Sky ( both verbal and written ) about their service, don't expect to get an acknowledgement of your complaint, let alone a reply.
  • Hi please can anyone give me some advice before I combust!!

I recently have had sky installed, I ve had various problems with them but thought these had been sorted out. One of the sweeteners was 3 months free line rental with a value of around 33 quid. Upon recieving my first bill there was 22 quids worth of line rental charges on there. I called them and asked them whats was going on, they agreed it was a mistake on there behalf but i would have to pay the bill anyway and they would adjust it on the next one. This wasnt good enough as id had problems before, I told them I would gladly pay the correct amount I owed and wiould be cancelling my direct debit until this was sorted. I ve had a couple of contacts from them basically sayin g sorry but isd have to pay the incorrect bill, I then replied saying id pay what i owe but no more, so on and so on. I feel like im banging my head against a wall..........pleeeeeease help
  • If you've recently had sky installed, there will be certain terms and conditions you have agreed to.
Cancelling the DD is not a clever thing to do. You think your banging your head now? It's just beginning. I'd suggest you start a new thread

Do you actually own the sky box though? I was under the impression that you just rented the box, rather than owning a washing machine/television. If you're in a rented house and the boiler breaks down isn't it up to the angents/landlord to sort it out? If you're renting the box and you can no longer use the service I would also be put out at paying a £65 call out charge to restore something that belongs to someone else in order to resume a service that I'm pay for that I am no longer receiving. Our modem stopped working and Virgin replaced it, they didn't expect us to pay for a new one and as it tooks a few days they also knocked the equivalent amount of days worth of fee off our bill too as we could not use the service. Was still a pain as my OH was working from home but couldn't without the internet but it happens and I was happy with the way they dealt with it.

That's disgusting, I could understand if it was too late for them to amend the DD if it was only about 10 days before but they should at least offer to refund it straight back to you. If I ordered food from a menu at the price stated in the menu I would not then expect to pay a different amount just because they put the wrong amount on the bill.
