Any advice would be great thanks xx

A bag of granery or wholemeal flour probably costs the same as a loaf of bread, and you will get 3 -4 loafs from one bag. The other ingredients are not too expensive, although im not sure about seeds, but im sure you will find you do save a little bit, and you know exactly what has gone into your bread!!!

I have a panasonic SD253. It has a separate compartment for putting in seeds if you like to make different breads. It also has a dedicated wholemeal programme.
I can't fault the machine. I use it to make Gluten Free loafs but I cook everything else in there for my husband. Absolutely fantastic. Had it about 2 years or so. Recommended by The Good House Keeping Institute. Read a few reviews about it on the internet and I'm sure you'll be convinced. Not dirt cheap though approx £80.
You might also like to visit the panasonic kitchen for recipes.

I rang them shortly after buying my SD253 to talk about Gluten Free recipes....not only was the phone picked up by a real person, but they were from the test kitchen and new everything about bread......even down to the dimensions of all the loafs that the packet mixes make. Very impressive.
Could always try giving them a ring.

Seconded - I haven't had a failure from my Panasonic 253. Even 100% wholemeal turns out wonderfully.
I use Carrs breadmaker flour, but I have tried the Hovis Granary, which was really nice too.
If you are not a member of Costco, Amazon have them, with free delivery too. (Last time I looked Costco had put theirs up to a similar price to Amazon too).
Hope that helps,
Regards,

Oh yes, yes, yes!!!! And they are Deeee-lish too!
I don't have a Panasonic - I bought one on sale a year ago (dirt cheap) and it's served us very, very well. One day, I shall invest in a Panasonic, but only when this one has bit the dust.
I made seeded loaf in mine today and as an experiment, threw in some linseeds as well. The flour I bough in Tesco's recently and it's Allinson flour - they had it on BOGOF for 99p = 3kg flour = 6 x 1½ lb loaves; Tesco also now stock the 125g pks of Easybake Yeast which works out much, much cheaper than the sachets too. (Can't remember the price) But other, cheaper brands of flour work well too, you will have to experiment.
The seeds work out quite cheap if you purchase them from your local Health Food Store and you only need small amounts.
Also remember that you can freeze your breads so you always have some in reserve; plus you can freeze your pizza dough and then defrost, top and bake it.
I have more than recouped the initial cost of my BM.
Only warning - you will eat more - the smell is soooo tempting as it bakes + the taste is so much better!

What are the gluten-free loaves like out of a bread maker? I can't stand the ones in the shops and tend to do without bread altogether. Our weekly family bread consumption is about £1 (mainly for packed lunches) so I'm wondering if it will be worth buying a breadmaker or not - and do the loaves slice easily? Any thoughts?
