It's as some kind of business manager for a US IT company with an offshoot in Aus. It's though a family friend. The MD wants to meet me apparently.

    Good luck!

I've also applied for a job as the appeals bloke for the film censors(!) for a few days each year.

What does that involve (something with dodgy films)?

I totally agree.Maybe the squeeze will make us better employees.I hope I keep my job because I think I've been a good employee(investment) and maybe those that feel the pinch wish they had tried harder during the 'good times'.I guess time will tell.

That would be a good change for the future. Better customer service for us all too - not before time! (I don't mean you, of course - you obviously already think about these things :D )

I work in fraud prevention for a bank and we have 7 new positions this week. If it wasn't for mergers and acquisitions I would be very happy although I am not particulary worried about my postion as it is a"growth area". with the falling cost of petrol and food combined with fixing my mortgage at some pint this year for 5 or 10 years probably at a rate lower than when I first purchased 6 years ago- I may do okay out of the recession as long as house prices don't fall to below 2003 levels !

The trouble with any recession proof job though is you need to already be in one by now. Anybody (me) looking here for inspiration would find that you can't now decide to look for those jobs because they will need qualifications/experience/criteria you haven't got or don't match ... and for those that do have them, there's then the other 100 applicants to think about.

Cheers. I'm pretty optimistic that I'll get an offer. Whether it's a reasonable one or not time will tell.

Let's say Treliac Films produces what they consider to be a Childrens Classic, "The Magic Faraway World Inside the Discarded Fridge" and the film censor decides that the bestiality scene alone makes the film worth an 18 Certificate.

Treliac Films can then appeal to me and my cohorts to try to get the rating reduced to a 'U'.

I knew someone that did that role about 20 years ago. Spent most of their time being forced to watch films that were initially judged too violent/ filthy /abusive to get even an 18R rating and the appealers were claiming that they weren't soo bad.

    Tell me about it!

Actually I've got a job interview this week.

    Very best of... er... British!
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.

treliac films would be a return to 'real' entertainment. Mind, with that title you may be onto a winner ;)

Hope you'll be keeping Aussie children safe! Isn't their govt trying to 'police' the internet?

The job is basically interpreting rules I guess.

Rudd is going to try to police the net. He's like an idiot only without the brains. He bailed out second hand car dealers with $2,000,000,000.
