I've just applied for a job working for a price comparison website - surely one of the few growth areas in a recession! Though still not under the category of "guaranteed", certainly better than working for a bank :eek:Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0

the army is number 1 definatly, then i would guess the police
Well when you actually look at it the Forces can do pretty much any job
Hence why I will always believe we will always be safe, if a country wants to have power in the world it needs a good Army who is very adaptable...which we are......Hence why we ended up covering the Fire brigade and also when foot and mouth kicked off the Army was used.If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -

The only recession proof job is becoming a criminal.
Every other job is at risk.0 -
Unless everyone decides to go 'The Good Life' then supermarket jobs are fairly safe. There will be a slashing of overheads and a streamlining of the businesses probably.I work for the fourth biggest so my glasses are rose tinted.:o
Actually I can't think of the fifth. So now I'm worried. In an Acapulco hotel:

That is the risk there, isn't it? More people are going semi-Good Life (keeping chickens, growing veg etc), but more importantly the Supermarkets are going to see a tightening in margins, as the weak pound pushes up the price of imported goods and people become more particular about their budgets...
Yes we'll always need some supermarket employees, the question is how many, and how can you be sure you're one of them?
(not to be doom-mongerer or anything, sorry! just thinking realistically...)Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
Whats the Job for if i may ask??
You may ask and I will tell.
It's as some kind of business manager for a US IT company with an offshoot in Aus. It's though a family friend. The MD wants to meet me apparently.
I've also applied for a job as the appeals bloke for the film censors(!) for a few days each year.0 -

I totally agree.Maybe the squeeze will make us better employees.I hope I keep my job because I think I've been a good employee(investment) and maybe those that feel the pinch wish they had tried harder during the 'good times'.I guess time will tell.In an Acapulco hotel:
