I've amended the title now to prevent any more middle-class hard working families having their womenfolk commit hari kari and beat the kids.
  • They are just fancy snow boots, we had those well over 20 years ago back when it actually used to snow every winter

They are really UGG-ly. It's a very chav thing to wear them up here, with velour jogging pants tucked into them - didn't realise celebridees were into them too .

They remind me of those winter booties that old ladies used to wear with their tan tights, plaid, pleated skirts and skinny little legs  who would want to look like that.
I'll have some cheese please, bob.

Have my hot tip for next A/W catwalks: dressing like an old lady.

Thick cashmere socks worn with birkenstocks appeared on the catwalks years ago, a fact that I use to justify my ongoing socks and fakenstocks habit. (They're comfy, but in this country, sandals NEED socks).
  • is this company ok? I mean are they proper uggs? I was just looking at their site then decided to search on here to see if anything mentioned about them

If its the former, good riddance to them. I believe the Aussie version is a family business and you can buy off their website.

Edit - yes Uggs us alive and well and ships to the UK : http://www.uggstore.com.au/index.php?currency=GBP&gclid=CM7kvMbhhJgCFU4g3godumy9Cw

I ordered a pair of Jumbuck short boots from Shudoo on Friday at 11am. I got a confirmation email shortly afterwards. I later emailed them on Friday afternoon to ask the status of my order and I received no reply.

I've just called them and for some reason they're not taking calls and asking people to email them and they will respond in 24 hours. I still haven't received a response to my email sent on Friday. Nor did I get an email to say that my boots have been posted.

I checked my credit card account and the money has been taken. To be honest I'm not too happy about not being informed of what's happening. They could have emailed to say the shoes have been posted.

Wait a minute, is this the Uggs that is actually the proper Australian Uggs; or the Uggs that is that American multinational company that stole the name and the design, copied and patented them, set up stores worldwide, and then threatened to sue the Australian Uggs of they tried to even keep calling their own product Uggs?

If its the former, good riddance to them. I believe the Aussie version is a family business and you can buy off their website.
    :)

I assume you mean the latter. And yes Ugg Australia is the American company that stole and patented the name. I believe their boots are made in China.

It's ridiculous they could patent a commonly used word, like if McDonalds were to patent the word "hamburger" and made everyone else call them meat rolls or something.

I've been wearing ugg boots around the house since I was a kid, but the golden rule was never to wear them outside as only westies and bogans wear them to the shops. It's funny how they're popular nowadays and cost a fortune over here. I first saw the celeb thing appearing in Aspen in the 90s and it was funny then too.

Moneysaving tip: Fly to Australia and buy some ugg boots, it's probably cheaper even with the cost of flights and you'll get a holiday too :D

Three Kate Kuba stores have reopened and are trading under license from the administrator.

According to a spokeswoman, Kate Kuba's stores in Muswell Hill and Oakwood in London and Loughton in Essex remain open and trading.
Kate Kuba appointed Fisher Partners as liquidator earlier today following a creditors meeting. Fisher Partners is in the process of selling the company's assets.
The spokeswoman added that Kate Kuba founders Cos Constantinou and his wife Kat are considering their options. Market speculation suggests they could attempt to buy back some of the stores on a permanent basis.
