Just finished reading through this thread.Ladies each and everone of your work is beautifull.I am desperate to try this and have found some crimpers on ebay, they are the ones with shapes are they ok to use thanking you.

Hi trish, my own opinion(for what it's worth) would be no, as you probably wouldn't get enough of the pattern on the edge. Don't forget though you don't have to have a crimper, you can still make them without. I think the ladies mentioned you can get them in home bargains and places like that. I don't have any of the shops like the ladies mention so I don't know if they still have them though.
  • My local Home and Bargains (Flint) still has the crimpers in for £2.99 - does anyone need them?

She grinch & almond - Thank goodness I'm not the only one who remembers jubblies and that these remind me of them. (not that I had so many -they were expensive)!

They used to be 4d if I remember right. Even if we did have money it was usually 3d, for that we got 4 fruit salads 1d 4 black jacks 1d and either a mcgowans toffee chew or a 1d arrow bar or for a change you could get 2oz sherbert pips. More often than not it was a stick of Rhubarb and a spoon of sugar in a greasproof paper cone!!

    OMG I'm getting old!!

Yes, I remember all those! Life was so simple then - Do I spend my 'bus fare on sweets & walk home or catch the bus?

I started school DEC 1970 and by FEB 1971 decimilisation happened. I don't really remember about pounds, schillings and pence as I was only just 5 years old.
I also don't know what a jubblie was but I do know that they have those sun icelollies in them now.

Thanks Soblivion:rotfl: I feel even older now - I'd LEFT school by then!
Jubblies were basically a frozen orange drink in a carton shaped like these 'sour cream containers'. They were huge & they'd last for ever.

Jubblies needed 2 hands to eat them as they were much bigger than Sun ice lollies, they were a special treat as they were expensive then!
