Help! Last Barclaycard Payment!

I opened a new Barclaycard Breathe Account and  forgot that it was only online billing!
The payment was due on 9th January and i have made an online payment today (which wont go through until Monday)

Will i lose the 0% deal that i am on with this card?
Will it affect my credit rating?

Any advice gratefully recieved (expecting the worse case scenario!)

Ring them up, grovel and be so polite and apologetic etc, set up a direct debit ... I think this is what seems to be the general advice on this subject.

Stick a post-it note on your computer to remind you of what date it has to be paid by and make a note on your diary and calendar as well
  • I missed a first payment (my mistake) on a Barclaycard account last year and they cancelled my 0% deal. As the limit was only £800, I didn't bother phoning them up to grovel and just applied for a Nat West card to transfer the balance to. In hindsight, maybe I should have grovelled. Going by posts on the forum, some companies are more understanding than others.

Why the hassle. Just set up a Direct Debit.
  • You will lose your 0% rate if you miss a payment or go overlimit.

I would advise you call them to confirm your payment went through and that you still have the 0% deal, simply ask them to reinstate it if not. If they decline this then switch cards.

For future payment set up a DD for at least minimum payment then you wont miss the payment date.

gotta say barclays online banking is amazing

i paid my cc online on friday

and the payment was cleared by saturday..... amazing!
  • In all honesty I cannot imagine Barclays/barclaycard to be that forgiving. They have been truly terrible with me who ,like many, has been devoured by stupid recession. They don't care that its near impossible to get a new job and just send letters that add to our problems. If I was you, I'd get out while you can. Hopefully you may have better luck than me but thought I should warn you. If you can transfer, I would strongly suggest that you did that.

My experience of Barclaycard has been OK (*touch wood*). When my OH paid another card instead of my Barclaycard a few months ago I was livid as it would mean losing my deal. He's usually so careful (and won't let me near the banking so don't start on doing it myself!). I did ring them up, explained what happened, been customer for 20 years and not missed a payment yet, first time it had happened. The guy very kindly put my deal back on and was very helpful.
I'd say give it a try, be nice and explain what happened. I'm sure they'll be OK.

There are pros and cons to all card companies I think, sorry you've had a bad experience Jill.
Thank you to everyone who posts comps! :A
    I would like to be lucky,healthy & happy in 2020! :T
