last week I bought a piece of stilton cheese from the Xmas range, reduced to £2.50. The lady was reducing them as I went to the cheese selection.
I have bad eyesight and couldn't see an expiry date, so asked her to look for me which she did and said 'oh its fine'.
When I unpacked at home and DH was putting the fridge food away he noticed the cheese was 2 days after its 'use by' date and the underside of the cheese (which couldn't be seen in the Xmas package box), was slimy.
I rang head office and explained the above and they asked me to take it back to the store.
As its half hour and £1 each way on the bus, I said it was too cold and not my fault, so I didn't want to go back.
The guy took my details and made a big deal of saying they would send me a 'goodwill' gesture.
    I received a gift card of .............................. £4.50!
I thought it was a little mean because all they were really giving me was my bus fare saving me going back.
It was their fault so I expected at least a gift card with a little more on it.
    Might call back on Monday

What did you want from them? They could have just sent you £2.50.
The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible.

I saw £2.50 as a 'Refund' not a 'Goodwill' gesture.
Also had to make a phone call to CS (my time for their mistake) and if I had been overcharged I would have been given the £2 giftcard, so I think it wasn't a very good 'Goodwill' gesture.
    Just my opinion.

Castlepoint, Bournemouth is my store for home delivery and the last few times I have had a delivery from them at least 2 - 5 items have been missing. So I don't bother now, too much hassle.
