Dyson CS first class

Options
I have at least a 3 year old Dyson DC07 animal hoover. I have had problems with it since last Summer over heating, at the time we were told to clean the filters which we did regularly.

But the problem seems to be getting worse we dont hoover as much these days due to we have laminate flooring in a few rooms and use other ways to clean the floor.

Its been very problematic the last 2 weeks, and appears to over heat within 10 minutes of it being on.

I just rang Dyson, and there were not only extremely helpful and quick but offered to replace the cyclone part free which I suspect isnt a cheap part. They are sending it me 1st class post in the next day or so.

I must say I am impressed with the service.

I remember having problems getting to change the filters when I first got it and they sent me a new one straight away. Hats off to them. Thanks Dyson

I've also had that part replaced by Dyson. Have the same model and they told me it was a design flaw that stops the cyclone from trapping fine dist which then clogs the filters and motor. Interestingly enough they haven't advertised this design flaw so other people who spent close to £300 for their vacuum cleaners know to get it replaced.
Their customer service is good but then it has to be as their products aren't.
As you can probably tell I'm not a big fan of theirs as a result of being unfortunate enough to have bought one of their machines.

Well thank goodness not everyone who owns a dyson is over the moon with it! I have a Dyson and I am not happy with it, it is very heavy (upright model) getting it up the stairs and to use, plus it keeps getting clogged up although I empty it and clean it at least twice a week.
Considering the cost of the thing I am not satisfied, but which to buy now? can anyone recommend a middle range costing upright cleaner that is light to lift and use? I do prefer the bagless ones.

  • I thought I would just mention my experience with Dyson customer service.

After a rocky start, ie I emailed them 4 months ago, had a reply requesting my serial number, which I supplied and then heard nothing at all :(

Yesterday I thought I would email them again, my hose has split for the third time grrr. The first two times I bought a new hose from their website at 20 pounds a go, but this time I thought no more because that would mean spending 60 pounds in total!!!!!! Also my stair tool has sheared off so that isn't usable either!!

Anyway this morning I received a phonecall from CS and they are sending me a new hose and stair tool free of charge :T

I must admit to being another disliker of Dyson, my other half loves it - but she is not the one who has to keep fixing the thing - now I know it gets alot of use, but trying to replace some of the parts is a nightmare!!! The brush clutch assembly is not very easy to do, and the cable by the switch is a real pain. I personally do not think they are built to last - when our current one finally dies it will not be replaced with another one!!!

My Dyson is still playing up and havent used it much since I got a replacement part. I booked in to get a service for tommorow so hopefully the problem will be resolved then.
  • After receiving my new parts, the clutch has now gone

I phoned CS who offered an engineer to come out for 55 quid, but I work till 3.00pm and they couldn't guarantee it would be after that. So I think I'm going to buy a new hoover - and I don't think it will be a dyson.

My motor on my Dyson burned out in less than 6 months. It was repaired very promptly. The courier who came to the door said that all he seemed to do was collect Dysons for repair. My sister's Dyson went the same way.

I finally gave up on the Dyson when it was less than 3 years old. I'd never buy another.

I got a new motor last week for free. They told me that they guarantee them for 3 years, he also replaced a filter just above the motor you cant get to that filter and replaced a hose underneath the body.
