Scottish Hydro Electric - con?

Hi
We had a cold visit last night from the "area manager" for SHE who came to say that our address had been flagged as being on too high a tarriff and we should change.
I don't really understand what he was saying but at one point he came in and checked our meters and said he could see from that who we were with and what tarriff? Is this right?

He also said that price comparison sites were rubbish as its all based on the commission they earn whether they will recommend someone.

We changed from SHE to Scottish Power about June last year (before the huge rises I think) to a fixed tarriff which according to Uswitch was the best deal.

Can anyone tell me whether this is real or just a sales pitch?

x

He's seen your meter, phone up SHE on Monday and check to see if a sale has been put through for your address, if it has make a complaint against the salesman!

Don't do business with anyone on your doorstep ever.
I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

Thanks - I was pretty sure it was a sales pitch but didn't understand how they would know what tarriff I was on etc to say I am over paying. He also made comments that we could get the standing charge removed from our bill which I wasn't sure about either (apparently SHE don't have a standing charge but presumably they have a higher tarriff?)
I said I didn't want to sign up to anything there and then but that if they sent me stuff through the post I would have a look at it.

Thanks again for all your help x

I had someone knocking on my door saying their computer had flagged that I was on too high a tarriff.
It was a con man trying to move me to a new electric supplier.
He wanted to have a look at my recent electricity bills but I told him go away.

That's exactly what happened to me - I didn't have bills to show him though thankfully. I will never let them in again!!
