Chinese - yuck. It all tastes slimey to me.
We had a chickpea curry, which was rather nice, if I say so myself (made by moi, eaten with apparent enjoyment by OH, Isaac and my mother)....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Typically for the Mail, it doesn't quite ring true in several places. For example:
But, on August 28, I was hauled before King's Lynn county court. Ignoring my business plan and the fact that I had £500,000 worth of equity in the property, the judge refused to give me a chance to raise the money to make the payments. He evicted me that day.
It was 1.15pm and I was told I had until 2pm to vacate my home. I raced the bailiffs back to my home so I could rescue a few precious belongings before my house was locked up.
Repossession just doesn't work like that. She'd have had a 28 day possession order, and the hearing she refers to can only be an application by her at the last moment to set aside the baliffs. The baliffs don't just arrive when the possession order is up anyway. All a bit glib.
And it's not surprising that a judge would refuse to put off a repossession where there are huge arrears on the basis of "a business plan".
And the figures. She bought is with a £200k deposit and a mortgage for £176k. And ended up owing well over a million. Doh!
On the last day, I snapped. The estate agent was showing a young couple around my home. I heard them excitedly chatting about the offer they were going to make - £500,000. I was furious at the injustice. This was my home and it was worth £1.6 million - I couldn't stand by and see it taken from me without a fight.
It had been on the market for months, and then a £500k offer. So it was obviously worth £1.6 million. Clearly....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

The story reads like bad mills and boon, i guess she's expecting some mr darcy to turn up and save her from this terrible life of self inflicted poverty.
He could have been Hugh Grant himself but no one would persuade me to put my home into someone elses name. Just how can some people be so stupid.0 -
what the hell is so wrong with forcibly evicting the smelly old hag, and getting the property on the market with vacant possession.0

Its up for sale for £769,000, maybe the £500,000 offer tipped her over the edge

She sounds crazy. The Daily Mail article strongly suggests she bought it for £376,000 in 1996, and she is bleating on about it being worth £1.6 million when the market is saying otherwise. My home is worth £1.6 million and I have at least £500,000 equity in it. But I have been evicted over a debt of just £350,000.Unbeknown to me, Simon had taken out a £550,000 mortgage on my home.By April, I was threatened with repossession.
I now owed more than £1 million, which was costing me £8,000 in monthly payments. The council refused to rehouse us, saying there was a long waiting list, so I moved into a friend's caravan. It broke my heart when I had to send the boys to live with their father in London. I haven't seen them since. I can't offer them a home and I think they are still upset with me, blaming me for what has happened. The estate agent was showing a young couple around my home. I heard them excitedly chatting about the offer they were going to make - £500,000. I was furious at the injustice. This was my home and it was worth £1.6 million - I couldn't stand by and see it taken from me without a fight.0 -
Do The Daily Mail check out facts before publishing stories?0

The debt seems to climb from 648k to over a million in rather short order. She says she has a delayed insurance claim for 40,000 but the debt rises by over 350,000.
Also, she doesn't say why she decided to sign her house over to someone else. Perhaps this was connected to the finances and the divorce for example, a way to reduce her assets.Trollfever wrote: »Do The Daily Mail check out facts before publishing stories?
Not stories like this. They are always full of holes.0
