Cleaning your computer TFT flat screen monitor

I have recently been in and around town. I went into a computer shop for a part I needed and noticed cloths that claim to keep your TFT screen sparkling clean. These cloths can cost up to £30.
Don't buy it - you just wasted about £29
The cheap way is as follows :
You can have your monitor off or on for this, I usually do it whilst waiting for the PC to start up. Get 3 pieces of standard kitchen towel from the kitchen (where else!) Split them down the perferation so you have 3 individual pieces. Take the first and run it under the cold water tap and then ring it out so it is nice and wet. Go to your screen and gently wipe in rows or columns.Wait about 10 - 20 seconds and then take the two dry pieces and wipe in the same direction until the screen is dry. Job Done
Do this every time you can see dust or fingerprints on your screen.
This works for desktop screens or laptop screens.
There you have it - the cheap and easy way to clean your screen, and with the money you saved you can buy something to reward you for being a money saver. Chocolates ?:money:

Of course the kitchen roll is slightly abrasive and it could over time scratch the screen.
The best and cheapest way that I have found is to wipe over screen with damp soft cloth, then dry it off with a microfibre cloth, ( cost about a quid ).
Perfect finish every time, no chance of scratching the TFT.0 -
A bit like spectacles: tissues tend to scratch the lens.BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

An alternative is to use a barely damp microfibre cloth with can be picked up for less than a pound, and can be reused time after time.
Thorntons Continental for me.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I was given a horrendously expensive Fujitsu Siemens tablet....with a pen etc for work.
You really have to lean on the screen with a greasy hand to use it properly but it comes with a microfibre cloth which cleans it up perfectly.
Be careful with paper it is abrasive, an old linen hanky is good but make sure you clean it first0 -
A barely damp microfibre cloth is definitely the best way to clean dust and fingerprints.0

The soft cloth is best it can be used slightly damp also, beware the moist "Cleaning Wipes" sold they can leave nasty streaks on LCD screens when dry0

Came back from making a cuppa to find my 2 year old daughter drawing all over our flat monitor with a thick red permanent marker pen!(silly me for leaving this out)... all fine after a clean with a soft cloth and a little methylated spirit. The screens great too!
