Travel insurance for UK holidays???

We are probably going to take our holidays in the UK this year, we are booking a cottage in Dorset for June, costing £900. I feel that I want some insurance in case we are unableto go for any reason and also to protect us in case cottage company go bust.
we don't have credit card, so can anyone advise on cheap insurance for this scenario?
Thanks
Sleen

Paying for the holiday with a credit card would provide some protection against the cottage company going bust. Maybe set one up just for this payment then cancel it after the holiday?
Is the cottage company ATOL bonded?
A previous thread mentions Schofields for holiday cancellation insurance http://travel.schofields.ltd.uk see
