centreparcs - worth paying £30extra for middle area?

Hi guys

Trying to book a centreparcs break - available at £200 for midweek break which seems really good.
Anyone whose been know if it is worth paying £30 extra to stay closer to the main areas?? we have 3 kids (ages 2, 4, and 6) and i was just thinking that we'll probably be in and out of the room all day so may be worth it.

Any experiences please? thanks

  • I would say it's worth paying.

Walking back to the villa through the woods is nice but if the weather is not good & you have 3 kids with wet hair etc......

Alternative is to take bikes (if you have them) which obviously get you round quicker. Or you can hire bikes with seats on the back for the younger 2.
  • Hi,

I would say it's definitely worth paying the extra, especially if you're going to Longleat because if you end up on the West side of the village, it's an extremely long (and hilly!) walk to the Plaza/pool, etc. We once stayed over on the West side, and I said never again!

With such young children, I definitely would. On the other hand, it's quite fun getting the Land Train, but you can go on that anyway.

    HTH

ps - we are going Feb half term and paying a lot more than £200  (my kids are secondary school age now, but still love Centerparcs!).

I remember going with my parents as a child to the sherwood forest one in its opening month and we were in one of the closest ones to the main area.
This as good from my (child) point of view:
    less walking,
after spending all day swimming in the pool, it was a quick walk home to a warm bath
parents were more inclined to spontaneously popout to shops/ playground, rather than make it a mission of walking for 20 mins or getting the bikes out

  • I would say, yes, having been to Sherwood and Whinfell. However, check first what is available. Often, we book at the last minute when there are deals on and when you check online, there will only be say 3 villas/lodges available and these will be in a central area as other people don't want to pay the fee!

In this case, the computer will pick one of these for you without having to pay the extra fee. It also works if you phone up. So perhaps check before wondering if you need to pay for it.

If £30 is a lot of money to you then I would think it also depends on when you're going - if it's good weather, the extra walk/bike ride will be pleasant. If it's lashing down with rain which is mixing with the mud underfoot (as I've known it!) then it might be nice to be nearer. If you're going out and about around the area the park is in, might be good to be nearer the car park or the sports centre for example rather than the "village square" as Center Parcs calls it :rotfl:

Either way, I'm sure you'll have a great time. I've been a few times and mostly enjoyed them all.
  • It is also worth checking whether upgrading your lodge would automatically place you in a better position in a better lodge than just paying the fee (eg at Longleat all the executive accomodation is well positioned and might only cost £20 more than a Woodland Lodge and £40 than a Comfort Lodge without having to worry about location)

    Hope that makes sense!
