Fitting cat - anything I should be watching for?

Defo take to the vets (at the rescue- as you have been advised). Hopefully (this might sound odd) it will be epilepsy as it is relatively easily controlled once the right dosage of meds has been established.
I had a dog with epilepsy whom decided (although I realise it wasn't actually his choice) to have his first fit in the middle of a busy road while out on a walk. OMG.....sooooooo scary for a number of reasons. I nearly ended up throttling the poor thing dragging it out of the road. It was a much bigger and heavier dog than I and no miserable sod offered to help!
Anyway, he'd had a couple more before we managed to get him on the right dosage of meds. And then later on in life he needed them changing because the dosage stopped working for him.
He was absolutely fine though and was pts for something completely unrelated when he was older. It never held him back from anything! It's funny though you do learn to spot the signs and know when ones coming....it can take a while though.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Hi Mutter,it does indeed sound as though Daisy is having petit mal episodes. My daughter used to have these up to sometimes 30 times a day,and that was the ones I noticed. She would only ever fit while sleeping though.Pequito my cat used to have them and in her case I would know a fit was brewing. She would always be awake whle fitting.
My daughter is now 35 and has a very normal life.So you see if it is epilepsy it does'nt have to be a problem.
Best of luck.0 -
I'm very glad to hear that your daughter has such good control over her epilepsy.
Were Pequito's petit mal episodes an indication that a grand mal was coming? Since the big fit I've not noticed Daisy having many petit mal, but earlier in the week she was having loads, so I'm wondering if this is possibly an indicator? What do you think? My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

Actually the petit mal would happen(with both my daughter and Pequito) regardless of a grand mal seizure being imminent. They're not always a good indication of whether a grand mal is on its way.Just part of the condition I'm afraid.0

Thanks, I'm just going to have to be observant and try to spot any patterns emerging.
Daisy is currently dozing on her favorite cushion. One thing I have noticed is that she sleeps a lot less than any other cat I have known.
Yogi is being very caring and brought Daisy a mouse for her breakfast this morning :eek:My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

Racy, has your kitty Daisy had any flea treatment before her fit?
Mutter, do you ask this for any particular reason? It's just that one of my cats has fitted after having flea treatment on two occasions (Stronghold both times - he seems fine with Frontline) but he has fits on other occasions now too. The first fit was 24 hours after having Stronghold though. Touch wood, he only has a fit every 3 or 4 months so the vet said not to worry about treating him at the moment and just monitor him after he's had a fit.0 -

There is a site link provided by Mum of Four on the green fingered board, she says the mesh from this company is far cheaper than diy store. May be useful for putting along railings RacyRed.

I saw this earlier and wondered whether it might be of any use to you for securing the balcony ... http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/cat_flaps_nets/cat_nets/cat_nets/29941“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0
