As per the title...!!
When I open up IE my pc cooling fan kicks in. Depending on what type of page I'm looking at depends on the loudness of the whining noise.
If I open up google.co.uk the noise is quite gentle and lasts about 1 second.
If I open up something like freecycle or log into facebook, then I've found that the more info on a site that needs to load means the fan type noise is longer.
Do I need to be taking the back off the pc and use a gentle brush and hoover it out or is my fan on the way out or is the whole thing just fcked??

I believe my psu unit is noisier and creates some higher pitched & changing sounds depending on the work load, put it down to the replacement a month or two ago and a budget priced one at £30.0

just clean it with a hooverIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -
not with a hoover , static Electric can zap the whole thing
turn off, open the side and use a clean praintbrush to dislodge any dust in the inlets and outlets of the PSU, the blades of any processor and case fans, and anything lodged in the metal fins on the processor
then blow hard in the case to blow the dust outEx forum ambassador

can of air....about a fiver and it blows!
take the side of the case off (left side when looking from the front) and have a look inside...clean it out...work out which fan is noisy and clean or replace..if it is a PSU fan (power supply, probably at the top of the case rear) then get a new, quality, PSU of the same or higher wattage..expect to pay £40+ for something decent.
If it is the CPU fan..expect to pay £3-15, as a general rule..more money=quieterUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0
