Help needed - Possible rip off?
Hi everyone,
I wondered if you could give me some advice, I work at a Letting Agency and today one of our tenants came in with an electricity only bill for over £500 for 3 months...I was sure there had to be some mistake (its a two bed flat) as the reading seemed to be an estimate, after getting the tenant to phone in current readings we were shocked to discover that his readings were actually higher than the estimate!!!
Upon further investigation we discovered that we had sent a heating engineer out previously that reported the clock that kept the heating off during the day (peak time) and turned it on at night during the low cost/low peak time to heat the flats was broken and was actually running constantly meaning everyone in the block is being supplied constant heating even if they turn it off in their flats!!!
So, my question is surely since this is communal this is a problem of Scottish Power and the tenants shouldn't have to pay for a fault in their supplied equipment?
Hope this is in the right place and thanks for any help you can advice.

If this is the case and it is a block of flats with a management company surely your company raised the issue with them at the time? How can it be down to the Electricity supplier?0
