Spend little on rent
For:
£282 pcm (+bills)
Good Location
Against:
Sharing with 3 others (who smoke)
Very small single bedroom
Electric cooker
I take home £1410 a month and could manage to afford a better place but at the moment all I'm interested in is saving up for a deposit.
Anyone else doing the same?

I'm in exactly the same position as you. I take home a good wage but stay in a very small place so I can save more. Currently contemplating a move to a place which is actually slightly smaller but is in a nicer area, is quieter and nowhere near a main road and has a tiny garden - only trouble is the 100 extra a month. (Actually not the only trouble, whichever muppet designed the kitchen didn't think that there needed to be room for a washing machine). Not sure whether it's worth the bother or not.0

I've been there and done that. Paid exactly same amount of rent+bills for the privilege of living in a shoebox room in Mile End (London).
I really suffered as I am a non-smoker and during this entire industrial placement year, I lived with 6 other Smoking Italians in a small shared flat! (They even smoked whilst on the loo and left cig butts in the sink)
Was on a decent salary back then for that placement year and saved like mad so now have a decent deposit.
