Hong kong or UK for a new camera?

I'd say you're better off buying online from home - whether you buy from a UK or international site is up to you.
It used to be 'the done thing' to pick up a bargain camera whilst in HK. We did it when we first went in 1994 but, of course, that was before the internet became so popular. I was last in HK in Feb last year and, like another poster has said, prices between here and there are very similar.
In addition to reasons stated such as warranties and the possibility of buying a fake you have to think if you want to spend your time in HK wandering all over the place trying to get the best deal. Then you'd spend the rest of the trip reading the manual for the thing trying to get it to work!
For the sake ok twenty quid I'd much rather buy online from home, safe in the knowledge that if anything went wrong you'd be totally covered and spend the time in HK actually taking photos with the thing. You'll still get a cracking deal if you do research online so to get the best price and you can spend the long flight reading the instructions!
Good luck!

Thanks to everyone for their advice! I knew a couple of years ago it was cheaper to buy a top of the range camera abroad but i guess with the weak pound and the the internet its not as cheap!0
