Dell inspiron 1545 v Samsung NC10

Over the past few weeks we have been looking at getting a new netbook or laptop for use in the room while the other half is watching soaps etc.

We already have an old MacMini which we currently use for our photos, music and current internet and e-mail access but this is in our "office" in the cellar and is a bit anti-social and we'd rather have something a bit more mobile (and I can't afford a new Macbook Air).

My original idea was to get a Netbook and after a bit of research had virtually decided on the Samsung NC10 but then saw the advert for the Dell 1545 at PC World which looked like a good deal but I can't find any reviews anywhere for this machine. This is a bit bigger than I originally wanted but for the price looked like it ticked all the boxes and then some.

Has anyone got this Dell yet or have any opinions of the spec?

thanks

    Yes

The 1545 is a good machine and thats a reasonable price for the spec. I'm a big fan of dells so its probably the machine i'd go for - for a full size laptop.

You really need to think through what your requirements are - the NC10 and their ilk are netbooks - designed to be compact and easy to travel with. If you have no requirement for something that small, personally i wouldnt. The screens are small, you have to scroll down through websites (and across), and the keyboards are sub standard size - that particularly gets annoying.

I have an NC10 as well as a regular laptop. I'm not sure i could be bothered with the NC10 as my only machine. Its just too small.

Personally, go see touch and feel one at your local computer store and see what you think, but its very much a personal choice.
