How much notice do Dell give for delivery?

I've just ordered a basic laptop from Dell (no fancy requirements etc). I know it needs to be me who signs for it, so I'll have to take a day off work to be at home (oh the pain!
).
When they call to arrange delivery, do you have a few days notice, as I'll need them to arrange the day off at work? They don't just call and tell you it's coming the next day?
Oh, and I notice in the confirmation email they have got mixed up and put my company name under my name on my home address (I got it through the corporate discount which is why I had to put it). Do you think this will matter? Postcode and house number etc all correct...
Thanks

I ordered my Dell on a Thursday and got a phone call on Friday to check my name and delivery address. The delivery was pretty quick on Tuesday between 5 - 9 pm, yes in the evening, I thought I got the time wrong but the delivery took place at 7.30 pm. Hope this helps.0 -
So I might not even need the whole day off..? Didn't know companies delivered so late. And if they are checking the address in the phone call anyway, I can tell them their mistake then. Thanks
Very helpful.

Dell use a company called Walsh Western, based in Coventry IIRC to deliver your laptop to you. Also, by buying under the corporate discount scheme, it means you will not be protected by the usual consumer protection legislation ie Sale of Goods Act or Distance Selling Regulations.
HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
I ordered on a Sunday, got a phonecall on the Wednesday to say delivery would be the Thursday between 5 and 9pm, and it was delivered at 5.15.0

My Dell laptop came via UPS which is fully online trackable. Check your order status on the website to see if its been dispatched and then you should be able to track it which might help.He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0

According to the Dell website it was dispatched today but no phonecall to tell me when it might arrive as yet? They had better phone me or there will be no one to take the delivery - they do always phone don't they?!0

I didnt get a phone call...but i tracked it via the order number on Walsh Western's site. When it reaches the local depot from Ireland it generally sits overnight then gets despatched in the morning as ON DELIVERY. That gave me a chance to get someone to the house.0 -

Same here. Expected delivery on order was Thursday. No subsequent call but UPS tried to deliver on Monday (nobody in) and left a card. They just keep trying every day for 5 days until they get you in. Received goods next day but was just fortunate that someone could stay in.Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.0
