*&%$$*$!! Letting Agents :-(
Eventually we found them with the landlord at lunchtime.
The letting agent promised to fit a fridge freezer, washing machine and cooker before we moved in. They actually did that. Second hand ones. The fridge freezer hadn't been cleaned, the washing machine had been jammed under the work surface so hard that if I switch it on it will undoubtedly crack the worktop when it spins (presuming it actually works). Also it's leaking water into the kitchen unit under the sink where it's plumbed in. The cooker however, was so bad I'm furious. I knew it would be a free standing one, but I've never seen a cooker that small ! The oven is about 14" wide !!, the grill pan is rusty and has no handle. I've seen better ones down my local dump. Imagine a dirty version of the cheapest of the cheapest possible cookers on the planet. The bathroom is stinking dirty, as are the kitchen units - all of which were promised to be cleaned before we moved in. I went to open one of the windows and the handle came off in my hand, plus I'm also certain the garage roof is asbestos.
If I could get my money back now, I would, and tell them to stick the house.
I feel so worn out and, frankly, quite upset about the whole thing. I think I'll go and get drunk.... I've just signed up to pay over £1000 a year more to move into a tatty dump*
*exaggeration warning - I'm still upset.

There should be a 48 hour cooling off period, enabling a tenant to give an immediate month's notice without penalty. That'd make them shape up a bit.
That cooker sounds like a baby belling.
Take photos of how minging it all is, then plan to go into the Letting Agents tomorrow when it's fullest and talk VERY loudly about how disgusting it all is and start showing the photos around .. "would YOU rent this? .. you? eh?"0 -
Make a list in writing and cc it to the letting agent and landlord. keep a copy.0
