Also the FM transmitter needs an aerial mod to make it effective.

    Carrie.

Is that on the V2 model with FM? I know there was an earlier V1 model that had the FM module disabled but I was referring to teh ebuyer version with FM and bluetooth enabled by default. If it requires a mod would surely be a trading standards issue.

4Gb would probably be enough but 8Gb would just save having to switch cards was all. I'm happy with 4, just thought I'd see if anyone knew of 8 given the cost to go that bit extra isn;t much when buying the SD cards

looking at buying the ebuyer one with fm and bluetooth included but has anyone attempted an 8gig sd card in these. I know it says 4gig is max card but people have issues due to FAT formatting so wondered if 8gig was actually possible if fomratted correctly?

I'm running the older version widescreen Navigo with an 8GB SD card, no problems at all.

for anyone gets these i've noticed that if you put the Cd in the box in the PC and select Website and then register you get free map updates for a year (assuming they ever update them) on the Turbodogs maps

but then again Tom Tom software does run on it

  • Just tried to download TomTom6 from here http://www.lime-exeter.co.uk/navigo/ and it comes up with a message that the zipped folder is invalid or corrupted.
    Any ideas?

For tomtom and other goodies on this unit, look at https://www.thepctailor.com
That website has downloads, forums, in short pretty well everything you need to turn this piece of hardware into an excellent satnav plus.

As you can tell - i've got and hacked one.
    Carrie.

    Hi Carrie,
I'm sorely tempted by one of these (3.5" V2 w/BT & FM). I have no worries about hacking it and have found the navsoon forum so there shouldn't be a problem there...;)

What I haven't been able to find out is any info on how well the thing actually works in general use. I have various queries that might be deal-breakers if it can't manage it...
    1. Can you use navigation software at the same time as sending audio via the FM transmitter?
    2. If so, does the music interfere at all with vocal instructions?
And if I also have my phone paired with it...
    3. Are incoming calls handled gracefully?
    4. How about outgoing - is voice dialing supported?
    And in general...
    5. What's the battery life like if it's doing all this at once?

The main issue, to be honest, is the MP3 functionality - if it can do that and still tell me where to go it saves me buying a fascia adapter for yet another car and swapping the head unit. If not then I may as well save a few quid and get the model without the BlueTooth & FM.

    Thanks in advance.
    Jez.
  • Its a great unit, i have tomtom with uk and usa maps, miomaps with uk and usa maps, route 66 and something else i cant even remember, also got a menu mod on it so i have all these things with a nice new menu in the style of how it is when you get the unit. Brilliant!! Just search navigo mods in google and lots will come back
