Ebuyer are doing this one a bit cheaper and its Ok - you can run Tom Tom on it as well - instructions on the Ebuyer forum although invalidates warranty I guess.

    How do you do this?
When life throws you lemons...put them in a gin and tonic !!
  • The unit is good, but the software it comes with is far from reliable. I have TomTom on mine now, and it is brilliant.

Read the Navigo reviews lots of links and info.
google 'navsoon' there is a forum with loads of help.

Basically, it has a usb link and using active sync on your pc you can hack the regisitry... easy to do and easy to back-up to secure your warranty.

I think they is also a 2-key press hack on the version2 that gets you out of the basic menu back to wince.

the are loads of alternative menus and if this is the 4*3 size it is a great video player. (add a program called coreplayer)

As you can tell - i've got and hacked one.
I run tom tom v7 and igo8/miomap plus mp3 and video from a 4g sd card.

    good luck.

    Carrie.
  • It's not the 4.3" one - I was tempted when in WHSmith too! Ebuyer is cheaper tho.

looking at buying the ebuyer one with fm and bluetooth included but has anyone attempted an 8gig sd card in these. I know it says 4gig is max card but people have issues due to FAT formatting so wondered if 8gig was actually possible if fomratted correctly?

I think I saw someone using a FAT 8gb on one of the forums...
But, why would you? 4gb holds 3 choices of navigation s/w, plenty of mp3s and my films.
I keep coreplayer on the resident flash.
films are on a seperate 4g card.
seperate cards mean you don't loss it all in one go AND come the holidays my
spare card goes in the camera bag.
Memory Map is a great tool for walkers.
A note - get a fast card for your films, for best results you need to convert them. (get reading - google navigo navsoon, lookout for userids Sarah99 and Dixie)

Also the FM transmitter needs an aerial mod to make it effective.

my maths aint brilliant but to me it looks like you are paying £2.39 more, not saving anything:confused:, i am guessing though the £47.60 should be £97.60:D, Dave
