Please keep us informed. It will be interesting to see how this works and what deal is offered. Maybe one of the mortgage advisors can then compare that to the broker deal to see if there is a difference?

One thing is for sure, they are getting good coverage.

  • I take it the mortgage sales will not be advised sales and its another route for clients to go direct. I really hope this doesn't take off as there is a lot of business to be lost by small brokers like myself. Mortgage Genie is bad enough!

There are an awful lot of people out there who still want that personal contact. This will cater for those that want this particular service.

If it only ends up offering the same broker deal but on nil-advice basis, then it has nothing to offer over brokers giving advice, completing the forms, copying and certifying ID, statements etc.

How many people come to you and say "I want that one"? They rely on you to give the advice and come up with the best you can offer. If you get 20 people come in and ask for a fixed rate mortgage, do you find the same mortgage deal is suitable for all 20? No. These are the sorts of limitations that bundles may have.

So, whilst it is a good idea and any positive news is good for the industry, do not let it worry you about your business. If you are giving good advice and good service along with value for money, you have nothing to fear.

If you still have concerns, then make your business better than the rest. We did this on our designated investment side by pre-issuing suitability reports prior to sale rather than after. They are written with quality in mind, rather than quickly churned out as an afterthought. The research is fully shown and the report is presented in a binder. That has got us so much extra business through word of mouth as it is above the normal standard. Tied agents don't stand a chance and most IFAs in competition wouldnt either. In reality, the binders cost 9-15p each and the reports take an extra 30-45 minutes to include the lot.

  • Thanks dunstonH. Am going through a period of worry as I've only just set up my business and I'm not sure of the potential, one thing I do know (that my old employer used to tell me) is I'm too soft on my clients and often forget about money! Will have to get the hang of this one! Mind you I do get a lot of business for being "such a nice girl!"

This maybe slighly off subject but contributors seem to well informed .
My Mortgage is now complete and I am out of touch withcurrent Ideas. But my daughter is considering the purchase of a £230.000 house with 23K deposit.
She is considering Using Mortgage Express Ltd for what ever reason.
I have made very brief enquires they seem to be a very agressive organisation with high costs and in my mind not a wise choice
I would appreciate any information, comments or help

belto, best to start your own thread. When you hijack another it can get confusing as to who is responding to what.
