There seems to be a lot of people that are confused which part of forum they are in, to help we are in the SAVINGS and INVESTING not the spending thread.0

i particularly like the view that those sitting on a cash pile complaining about the interest should use it and be reminded how lucky they ae compared to many people suffering through this recession.
I have to disagree with the use of the word lucky. These people have saved, it's not just appeared in their bank/savings account. Lucky is when you win the lottery.Originally Posted by Dr Cuckoo3

This 'one' would not want to risk 'any' of my savings on the stock market.
I am fortunate, in that I don't have to rely on savings interest in my retirement.
But does that mean I shouldn't receive a decent % for lending my money to the building societies/banks?Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

I like beer, I'd like to pay £1 a pint for my beer, no doubt the landlord at my local would like to charge £10 a pint, neither of us can achieve that...
I can't find you a pub that sells it for a quid, but would 99p do you?

Greene King IPA, I hope you like that :-) I'm quite partial to it myself.0 -

I was naive to leave all my money in sterling rather than diversify0

Cash is no longer king for income
Financial advisers are now moving private investors’ money out of cash and into corporate bonds and selected equities, in response to a “significant” increase in demand for higher-yield investments in recent weeks.
Barclays Wealth, Collins Stewart, Newton, RBC Wealth Management and Punter Southall all report that more clients are seeking improved income yields – with many taking advice even before Thursday’s Bank of England base rate cut.0 -
Interesting article.
The final paragraph says it all for me!0 -
At one point the article seems to suggest that the movement back to equities is redressing the balance of investors who fled to cash six months or so ago.
But I can't help wondering if this is the same investors who are now not as nervous and are dipping their toes back in, so to speak, or these are new investors who are traditionally cash-savers and are being a bit reckless in a desperate attempt to continues receiving the returns they've been used to with their cash.
If the latter then I fear they'll get their fingers burned!0 -
It's likely the ones whose 401k is now 201k because the touts cashed in their bets after the carnage was over and are now up for letting the touts chase their sizable losses with their diminished stakes.0
