Changes to my motorcycle insurance policy

Hello All,

Looking for some advice.. I recently took out motorbike insurance with Aquote whom got me the best deal with Norwich Union, this cost £710. I was told that if I had an alarm fitted it would reduce my premium considerably. So, I had a CAT1 alarm fitted, I called Aquote to get them to change the policy hoping for a good reduction! Guess what? no reduction for having an alarm fitted! Is this right? Is there anything I can do? Surely having an alarm fitted in addition to already having a chain and padlock is enough for a reduction as I have considerably reduced the chances of it being stolen. Advice, help and sympathy welcome!!

I would suggest that you jump onto the AQuote website and do a new quote with your new security included. I may be wrong but I would lay a small wager that Norwich Union will no longer be the cheapest price that you get. See how much less the new quote is and if it is significantly cheaper give AQuote another call and ask what the cost would be to cancel your existing policy and take out the new one. Make sure that they know that you intend to take the new policy with them as this should avoid any additional cancellation charges being applied.
Once you know the cost to cancel you can add this to your new quote and see if it is worthwhile going ahead. It could just be that the scheme you are on does not offer discounts for the alarm whereas others do.

    Good luck.
