What an original and enlightening thread! It's got me thinking about that flavourless bag of Japanese rice crackers that is lurking at the back of the cupboard.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but does anyone know where to get Karachi crunch? Morrisons used to do it but it's been discontinued.

im sure i bought a bag of this in julian graves, is it similiar to bombay mix?

Yes, it's like it but the noodles are thinner, it's spicier and there's slightly different ingredients. (From memory, I think raisins, peanuts, whole lentils.)

  • the indian housekeeper i work with ( who is an amazing frugal chef!) mixes bombay mix with finely sliced onions, grated carrot, chopped tomato, cucumber, fresh coriander and makes a side salad/dish out of it.
Or you can sprinkle it on vietnamese/thai style salads/meals for a different texture and taste
