I used a solderless one on my sons a year or so ago.Got it from https://www.kanection.co.uk .Not anywhere near as daunting as I thought to fit.Little if no risk of damageing anything.I'd go this route over a solder chip if I had to do it again.0

Why not do a softmod? Its requires no soldering, or buying of mod chips. Safer as there is no physical hardware modfication.0

You're still changing the dashboard though, so can screw it up if you don't do things correctly.
Plus you need all the right bits and pieces. You can get a solderless chip online and install it quite easily for £30. A softmod requires one of 3 games (£5) and action replay (£15), so it's only about £10 cheaper."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -

If you go over to the Xbox Forum at avforums they have 3x complete softmod kits doing the rounds that you can use for free, just add yourself to the list. So all it will cost is the postage to the next person on the list.
I've softmodded 2 of the cheap Argos £50 Xboxs for kids Xmas presents and it was a doddle. You back everything up before you start, so if something goes wrong its one click to put it all back.
Plus the statement above isn't entirely true, as I still have the original MS dash on the 2 I did as I just wanted them to look like a standard Xbox except they play backup games.0 -
