Extract over hob

Options
Hi

I am having a hob put in my kitchen, do i really need an extract above it??

I have wall units above it at the moment. If i do need one, can these go via a plug or do they need mains electricity!

Thanks

I think an extractor is a necessary requirement to satisfy building regulations. If you have wall units above the cooker these have to be a certain height (again building regs) I'm sure the standard height for cupboard is well below the recommended. Remember, extractors can come built into cupboards so you needn't worry about spoiling the look of your kitchen, fortunately these are the cheapest type you can get.

If you don't mind a film of grease building up over your kitchen units and paint peeling off the walls then you don't need to bother with an extractor.
