Watched this, this morning. Guy bought farm buildings to change into a residence. He paid, I think 2mil, and was spending another 2mil doing it up. Just wondered if anyone knew the property and how he got on. ;-)

At the update, which was filmed late last year (property was purchased summer of 2006) they'd just got revised planning permission to restore the farmhouse and attach it to the barn converstion with a conservatory type walk way. It looked very nice, and rough estimate of costings were around £3m. Unfortunatly the estate agents final valuation was £5m, although they weren't that bothered as it was always destined as a family house.
I loved it and would put my family in the old farmhouse once it was restored, let alone the whole new building - that was amazing! Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
I love seeing the more recent versions where property developers who bought in the late boom peak hoping to make a huge profit and then get it valued at less than what they paid to renovate in today's market. I have no sympathy for them.0

Yes it certainly looked like it was going to be an awesome home when finished. I wonder, with the way things are now, whether they will ever get it done.0 -
5 million spent on a farmhouse and integrated barn!!!! Where the heck was this place ?!! Sounds like madness to me.

Alderley Edge, Cheshire
The programme described it as "a Footballers' Wives area"
They expect the work to be started in 6 months and finished in 2 years.
Final budget will be £2million from quantity surveyor, but budgets always go over and they haven't had the final one yet0 -
I was going to put London or Cheshire in my post, as had an inkling of Wags, but then thought it was daft even for that area!:o The stupidity of some people, and Solicitors is truly mind boggling!
