Wheelchair Insurance

Hi,

I've just got my first wheelchair through partnership/voucher option with my local wheelchair service. Does anyone know who's responsible for insuring the chair with this option. I'm waiting to hear back from the wheelchair service about this, but they are rather slow at responding to anything and I'm concerned if anything should happen to it and its not insured.

thanks very much

Thanks for the this. But unless I'm missing it, there's no specific mention of insurance.

it states it will be maintained and repaired free of charge
i guess if it gets stolen it's up to you but you could call up the social work department and ask (although my guess is they won't know either and will have to look up the answer for you)
  • Ours gets repaired when needed and they send regular letters out check its ok plus still needed. The main problem we have is the way paths tilt meaning the wheel and brake on one side keep being fixed.

Thanks for your replies. I suppose my concern is if my car gets broken into and its stolen. (not an unlikely scenario where I live!)

I'm reliably informed that you can call Motability's Wheelchair and Scooter Team and they should be able to tell you:
