Hi
My little girl decided she didn't like baby food / puree'd food at nine months.
She cut her first tooth at roughly thirteen months and you would be very surprised what she was able to eat with little to no teeth.
She loved pasta & rice, Banana, cucumber, apple, satsumas, grapes ( I cut them in half)
I did and still do a bits and bobs bowl with pasta shapes, cucumber grapes, ham, cheese or whatever else cut as finger food and both of my children love that.
To be honest there was very little she didn't have as long as it was cut up small enough for her.
In terms of feeding herself, let her, obviously an independent spirit !
You might find with two spoons one for her and one for you she might let you help.
Good Luck0 -
Thanks to everyone for their responses. I have been shopping tonight so over the next few days we will give a few things a go. I'm going to try cooked pasta, dairylea triangles, dairylea cheese spread sandwiches, chicken and ham paste sandwiches, baby courgettes steamed and cut in half (she sometimes just squidges normal courgettes in her hand so thought baby ones may be firmer), eggy bread, lightly cooked apple and anything else I can think of. I don't think we are quite ready for peas and raisins yet as I'm too scared of her choking. She sometimes still gets it wrong with rice cakes and gags and is sick. She even used to gag and get very sick on a bottle of milk. I got to a point where I was terrified to feed her so am really pleased that things seem to be improving.
We have been doing the 1 spoon for mummy, 1 spoon for my daughter thing for a few months and at first she was great at feeding herself but now she just bashes the spoon in the bowl and wont actually attempt to eat anything. I think shes trying to see how far across the room she can flick the food. I have got one of the things that hold the bowl to the highchair but she has figured out how to remove that quicker than I can blink so thats why we don't just give her a bowl and let her try it. My walls would end up covered in food, but only if the whole bowl doesn't end up on the floor first!
Thanks again for all your ideas. I'm sure I'll keep referring back to them.

Almost anything can be finger food at this age really.
My son loves risotto, at 14 months he can spoon-feed himself but sometimes he gets fed up at the inefficiency of it compared to shovelling it in by the handful!
Also most pasta dishes if you use fusilli, it's a good shape for them to hold.
With 3 teeth she really should be able to manage peas, they are very soft and she will not choke on them - grapes I'd worry more perhaps (but I give them to my son either quartered or halved depending on size) but peas are squishier and smaller! Peas, pesto, and pasta is a good quick meal.0 -
Hello,
Thought I would update everyone. I have been very proud of myself and my little girl today. She had eggy bread for breakfast which she seemed to really enjoy, she tried a little bit of a ham sandwich at lunch but didn't seem impressed with ham at all, and she had loads of the pasta and baby courgettes that I made her for dinner. Unfortunately I have spent the last few hours in A&E with her and the drs think she may have an egg allergy so eggy bread is now out! It's a real shame because she really enjoyed it so it's back to the drawing board for a breakfast kind of food. I assume it will also be a nightmare for her as she gets older if she is allergic to egg as there are probably lots of food that contain egg that we dont even realise. But we'll see how things go when she's been to the allergy clinic.
Thanks again for all your ideas.

Oh Taliwillow, poor you and your poor DD. I don't know much about allergies but is it true that children often grow out of them? i.e. perhaps eggy bread can go back on the menu in the future?
Sounds like she did really well thoughif you are worried about her overall intake just give her more milk, it will cover the majority of nutrients etc at this age.
