Ing

I don't know if this has been referred to before or is on another thread somewhere.

My wife got an unsolicited letter from ING. Open an account, put £1 in and get a £20 bonus. She did this and it all worked out fine. She then got another letter asking her to introduce three people to open an account. As soon as each account was opened she got a £25 bonus and the new account holder also got a £25 bonus. She got me to open an account, which I did with £1. She received her £25 bonus and now has an account with £46 in and I have one with £26 in, all for £2. We have made £70. She is getting two of her friends to open accounts now so she stands to gain another £50.

Oh, and their introductory rate for easy access accounts appears to be 5% gross (includes an introductory bonus), by some way the current market leader

It has been an easy way to make some additional money in these challenging times.

It all sounded too good to be true but it has happened.

Pardon the obvious question, but: Do you work for ING?

They have a bad reputation for offering nice introductory rates, and then (as the Nationwide ad says) once you're hooked, they hoik you into the keep net and slash your interest rate.

ING can ****ing well take a hike for all I care!

Ah ! You have to play them at their own game , deposit some money for a year, get the bonus rate and then close it.

No I don't work for Ing.

I am debt free, a saver and like to think I'm fairly financially astute. I just thought I'd share my experience. I accept your cynicism.

    OK, I was joking anyway!

But ING have got a bad rep on these boards if nowhere else. I was going to deposit ~£45k with them, but given they are not part of the UK FSCS, and after being caught up in Icesave, I am sticking to the UK for now.

I just don't think it's worth the risk at the moment.

If ING joined the FSCS and offered a stable rate (4%, I'm not greedy!) then I would jump at the chance.

I feel exactly the same way, as I put on another thread. If indeed they were part of the UK FSCS I would jump at opening an account with them. There is always some catch I suppose!
